Truth be told, Colby was still confused as to what he wanted to do with his and Nicole’s relationship. Now that they were expecting, it just seemed right to be with her, but then again he didn’t want her thinking the only reason he wanted to be with her was because she was pregnant, because that wasn’t the case at all. He wanted to be with her because over the span of the last few months he realized just how much she meant to him, and how stupid it was to let her walk out of his life. He reached for the plate that held the tomatoes and peppers to chop up the second he was done with the lettuce. “Yeah, that’s cool,” he replied, reaching for the tomatoes in silence before turning to face her as he listened to every word she spoke. Hearing that she forgave him did set his mind at ease, but still there were the ‘what if’ thoughts running rapid in the back of his mind. “I know you’re not the type of chick that would try and keep me away from my child, and to be honest being away from you all this time has made me realize how much you mean to me. I want to be with you, Nicole, but I dunno if I can yet,” he admitted, taking in her reaction before he went on speaking. “-cause I don’t want you to think the reason I came crawling back is because you got knocked up with our child…”
Their whole situation was weird to begin with, and deep down she knew that when others will hear about it they would instantly assume that the reason of them being together is the baby. Her own sister told her that, when that first doctor’s appointment happened. But now, hearing Colby’s side of the story, hearing that he wanted to be with her showed that her feelings weren’t one - sided at all. She remained silent, waiting for the father of her child to finish talking before finding the right words to answer him. “I… You reached out to me first, without knowing about the baby yet. Right then and there I knew that you felt something, not letting up on the possibility of seeing me. And now, when you know about the baby… Honestly, if there wouldn’t of been any feelings on your part you could of left me right after the ultrasound, not staying here and letting me cook for you. My point is - those little things showed me that you care and that you have some feelings for me”. Taking a step closer, the brunette was practically pressed up against the Iowa native, her belly leaving some room between the two, as her hand reached out to take his hand in hers, entwining their fingers. “They may not be strong, those feelings, but… Just let them go. Whatever happens - happens, just feel and enjoy it. Who knows, maybe you will like it…”
